Motherhood is full of milestones — the big wins and the small ones. At BOB Gear, we believe victories come in all sizes. To celebrate the everyday wins that keep you moving forward, we asked our social media community, along with several moms from our own BOB Gear and Britax team, to share what the phrase “everyday victory” means to them. The responses were honest, heartfelt, and refreshingly real — and we hope you’ll find some encouragement in their words.

When was the last time you accomplished something that felt like a big victory? Maybe it was crossing the finish line in a 10K or breaking a personal record at the gym. Maybe it was landing your dream job or giving birth to a beautiful baby. During those special moments, you’re filled with pride, joy, and a sense of accomplishment that makes you feel like you can do anything. It fills you up from head to toe, giving you a rush of energy, confidence, and excitement. It’s the kind of feeling you wish you could put in a bottle and save for a rainy day.

Let's say you could put that feeling in a bottle. It would certainly make being a mom easier — but after a while, it wouldn’t feel so special anymore. It would just feel ordinary. Those big accomplishments and victories are so meaningful because they’re rare — and we can’t fully appreciate them without the low points and the gritty miles in between.

While you can’t bottle up victories, you can learn to access the joy and confidence they bring by recognizing the power of small, everyday wins. A huge part of feeling content and fulfilled (especially as a mom) is learning how to celebrate victories of all sizes — not just the big ones that seem worthy of posting on social media. One of the best gifts that you can give yourself as a mom is allowing yourself to redefine what a “victory” is — and allowing yourself to embrace the confidence and joy that come with those everyday victories.

Q: What is an everyday victory?

  • “Taking a few minutes to do something for myself.” — Alexandria, @hollygolightlyyy

  • “Getting outside!” — Amelia, @_ameliabarone

  • “Getting all the bottles washed and getting a smile out of the baby.” — Courtney, @cnyyogagirl

  • “Seeing my daughters laughing together and going to each other for advice.” — Nancy Heaton, President, Britax & BOB Gear Americas

  • “More than anything, my son's happiness means the world to me. Not superficial, but the deep instinctual joy that a mother knows is for real.” — Kristen Barrett, Creative Manager, Britax EMEA

Real Mom Wins, Big and Small

Sometimes, celebrating unfiltered moments is easy. All you have to do is take one look at the cute, silly, spunky, and adorable miracle that you call your child. Whether they’re all clean and cozy in their footie pajamas or covered in crumbs and who knows what else, their sweet eyes and smile fill up even the lowest moments of your life with more meaning and joy than you ever thought possible.

That’s not always the case. There are also days when you get so overwhelmed and stressed that you can’t find a single thing to celebrate. On those days, the very idea of a “victory” seems impossible — laughable, even. When you’re in the midst of what feels like a full-on battle with the forces of nature as you try to keep your little one safe and happy, keep the house clean, manage schedules, stay in shape, balance work and a social life, pay the bills, and find time to sleep, trying to “stay positive” might seem like it’s more trouble than it’s worth.

Advice for the Overwhelming Days

Q: What is your best advice for other moms who are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or inadequate? What do you wish someone had told you as a new mom?

  • “The way you parent will always look different from others and that's okay.”  — Amanda, @momathonrunner

  • “You will mourn the old version of yourself, but you will welcome a new one as well.” — Alyssa, @ajsnyder811

  • “When I first became a mom, someone advised me to ask for help. Initially, I assumed that meant inviting someone over to watch the baby while I caught up on sleep or tackled housework. But in reality, help comes in many forms—it might be as simple as having dinner served on disposable plates, setting up automatic deliveries for baby necessities, hiring a landscaper for the lawn, or sharing household responsibilities with your partner. Be creative and remember to cut yourself some slack—this phase won’t last forever!” — Katrina Fine, BOB Gear Senior Product Manager

  • "You are exactly who your child needs. On the hard days when the house is messy, the noise is loud, and you're questioning if you're enough, remember this: the chaos is temporary, but the connection lasts forever. Let the dishes wait, leave the laundry, step outside, soak in the sunshine, and savor these little moments with your kids. It's the simple things — the giggles, the dirty hands, and unplanned adventures that make the best memories."  — Melissa Smith, #GirlMom of three, BOB Gear Social Media Community Manager

Finding joy and celebrating everyday victories while rolling through chaos is a skill that takes practice. It can feel silly and hopeless at first — like trying to run a marathon if you’ve never trained a day in your life. If it’s difficult to find something to celebrate at this stage of your motherhood journey, that’s okay. Give yourself space to feel and acknowledge the negative emotions, whatever they may be. Then, at the end of the day, when the dust settles, take a pause, take a breath, and start small. Find just one small thing from your day to celebrate — and be proud of it.

Reset Routines That Work

Q: What’s your go-to strategy for resetting after a long day?

Once you find an everyday victory to celebrate, don’t let anyone diminish it. No matter how big or small that victory may seem, it's important and meaningful. It’s part of your journey and your story as a mom — and that’s all that matters. You and you alone get to decide what counts as a victory and what gives your life meaning. If it’s getting out of bed, getting the kids to school, and getting everyone back into bed at night? That’s amazing. If it means taking a family hike once a month, that’s incredible. If it means setting aside just 10 minutes for yourself a few times a week, that’s wonderful.

Q: What everyday victories are you celebrating at this stage of your motherhood journey?

  • “Cherish[ing] the crazy of the newborn phase because it is so fleeting.” — Hazeza, @hazelecroy

  • “Getting [the] newborn and toddler on a walk! And getting out of the house to explore.” —  Kasia, @pumpkin.spicey

  • “My child learning a new word or new skill and their smile.” — Breanna, @breannaxaranda

  • “Watching my daughters make their own decisions and chase their own dreams as adults.” — Nancy Heaton, President, Britax & BOB Gear Americas

  • “My Mom’s best advice to me as a young parent was that I can’t stress myself out planning for every possible future scenario, but should trust myself that I will figure what to do when/if they occur.  And she was so right!” — Nancy Heaton, President, Britax & BOB Gear Americas
