When temperatures drop and the days become shorter, it’s tempting to put your outdoor runs on pause until springtime. But with the right gear and plenty of layers, you can transform this frigid time of year into a memorable season of exploration and family memories. BOB Gear® jogging strollers help make it easy to stay active, explore, and crush your goals during winter jogs with your little one in tow.

Why Winter Movement Is Worth It

While cold-weather excursions may seem daunting, winter outings offer a refreshing change of pace with crisp air, peaceful trails, and a chance to enjoy the season in a whole new way. Plus, fresh air is good for the body and mind, especially when cabin fever starts to creep in. BOB Gear’s all-terrain jogging strollers are engineered for performance and stability, helping parents stay active no matter the forecast. Whether you’re navigating sidewalks or park paths, our jogging strollers help provide a smooth, confident ride for every cold-weather adventure.

Your Winter Jogging Checklist️
  • Check the Weather and Route: Always check the forecast before heading out. Pick routes with plowed paths and firm ground, and choose a path that’s close to home in case the wind picks up or conditions change.

  • Layer Up: Include base, mid, and outer layers for you and your child. Remember, you’ll warm up as you move, but your passenger won’t. Dress your little one warmly with a hat, mittens, and a footmuff or blanket. Layers make it easy to adjust as the temperature shifts.

  • Use a Weather Shield: A see-through weather shield is a game-changer for winter jogs, helping to protect your child from chilly air and precipitation while still allowing them to enjoy the view.

  • Check Tire Pressure: Cooler temperatures can lower tire pressure, which can affect safety and ride quality. Always inflate your jogging stroller tires to the recommended pressure before heading out. (Refer to your user guide for specifications.)

  • Lock the Front Wheel and Test the Brakes: When running or jogging with a BOB Gear stroller, always lock the front wheel into jog mode. Double-check that both the parking and hand brakes (if equipped) are working properly.

  • Keep the Seat Fully Upright: Always put your child’s seat in the fully upright position when jogging or running. Reclined seats may reduce stroller stability during runs.

  • Attach the Wrist Strap: Prevent unintentional roll-aways and maintain control by using the stroller’s wrist strap during runs.

  • Pack Smart: Stock your cargo basket with winter essentials like water, lip balm, snacks, wipes, tissues, and an extra layer in case of chill.

  • Stay Visible and Safe: With shorter daylight hours, visibility is key. Wearable reflective gear such as vests, armbands, clip-on LEDs, or headlamps help ensure that you’re visible to others. For early morning or evening jogs, choose well-lit routes whenever possible.

  • Warm Up and Cool Down: Take a few minutes to stretch and warm up before heading out. Finish with a cool-down stretch, hydration, and a post-run snack you can share with your little one.
