Besides being smaller, made with cheaper materials, and can be used as either a trailer or a wheelbarrow (though it can't do either very well), it's just like the BoB...

The "handles" that swing round to make a wheelbarrow look like a good idea, though perhaps a bit short, but I can't say I'm too impressed with the rather flimsy looking "tray" that carries the load.

And they even have the temerity to use the word "Nutz" ...

Hmm. I had a look at the video in the Gallery. It's so SLOW (and awkward) to fix the hitch to the rear bike axle, then fix the trailer to the hitch. And rather than using the little slide-in clips of the BoB to hold it onto the NutZ, the Maya looks like it has wingnuts.

It seems that one leaves the hitch on the bike permanently? Extra weight to cart around.

On Edit: Looking at the trailer's stand. If one were to use this off-road I wonder how long it would take for a track-side branch or even a rock to grab the stand and lock it down? Further, rather than the BoB's tapered frame, the Maya is square at the front so in the event of striking an object this could be more likely to cause damage/injury. (Not that the BoB is safe in this regard, but safer.)

And the pin to prevent the trailer dropping down off the hitch? No thanks. The BoB uses gravity and the weight of the load to assist the trailer in staying on the axle. The Maya uses the pin to resist gravity, so if you lose it, you're up the creek. You couldn't just use a twig to replace the missing pin, whereas if you lose the pin(s) from the BoB they could be replaced by a piece of string or a cable tie.

I'd have to give this a "Fail" on several areas.

I think calling this a pretender is giving it delusions of grandeur!

Viva La BoB!
